  • Identification of 24 “best fit” schools; verification of academic rigor; kinds of students who attend; regional and national reputation of chosen colleges; difficulty of achieving at least a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Student, parents, and Director collaborate to reduce the list to 12 schools that will be applied to.
  • How, when, and where to prep for SAT/ACT; preferred dates for taking SAT/ACT.
  • Guidance on how teachers and counselor need to write personal recommendation letters that include major activities and positive characteristics; key points to cover in additional letters of recommendation
  • Discussion of paths of study, careers, graduate schools, and long term plans. Discussion of Major and General Education requirements for each prospective school.
  • Planning college visits and discussion after the visits; what to look for during the time spent; possibly altering the list of colleges based on the “likes” and “dislikes” of college touring.
  • Interview Preparation
  • Director, student, and parents collaborate on whether to submit applications ‘early action’ (non-binding) or a single application ‘early decision’ (binding).
  • UNLIMITED APPLICATION AND SCHOLARSHIP ESSAYS; Director will work hand in hand with student to ensure that every essay is personal, detailed, appropriate, and written in the first person.
